Yours is an interesting and compelling point. Skip Gates makes the point that Black children often got better education in segregated schools because they were sheltered from white racism.

I wonder if Vinson would agree. Gates can make that claim as a Black schola. I can’t as a white teacher.

I did take a certain perverse pride when I learned that Black scholar Jonathan Holloway was the master of Calhoun House at Yale. Maybe a needed first step before changing the name.
