You are correct. The balance between public commemoration of the past and historical exploration has become a chasm.

We have to help people to sit in the discomfort of our history and listen to other people's perspectives.

I just read an editorial in the local paper explaining how we were "completely justified" in dropping the bomb on Hiroshima.

It is remarkable how willing we are as Americans to seek safety by bombing other people's children.

No wonder our kids are not "ok."
