The two party system appears to be baked into our constitutional structure. I don’t know how you get the groups that make up the government to commit suicide like the Samurai class in Japan. Furthermore, the freedoms that are defined in the Bill of Rights preclude the wholesale banning of political parties.

I believe the Democrats are trying to own the center while quieting the restive Left. That will be a very challenging goals. It would be interesting to see an attempted reconciliation between never Trump Republicans and more moderate Democrats.

We will see.
