I am struck by how Dietrich Bonhoeffer railed against cheap grace before doing the hard work of establishing the Confessing Church in Germany.

Somehow we have allowed ourselves to be defined more by our political and theological enemies than by the Gospel.

From my varied readings, conversations, and observations over the years it appears that the deepest sin in the American church is Patriotic Idolatry.

We have exchanged worship of a crucified savior for the worship of the flag and the military. The Romans crucified Jesus and now we aspire only to be Rome.
