Thank you so much for this analysis. Like many leaders today, the men you describe were supremely self confident and successful at their jobs.

As JK Rowling would describe them, they became “death eaters.” Each was willing to sacrifice the lives of the “other" to serve their radical racist ideology.

One would have hoped that we would have learned this lesson, but it is so much easier to see flaws in others than in ourselves.

I wonder, as we approach the seventy fifth anniversary of Hiroshima, what wrongs we still need to acknowledge.

If not Hiroshima, than at least Nagasaki. That was a straight revenge shot for Pearl Harbor. As Americans we have not felt safe ever since. Will we ever have the courage to repent and pray for our enemies instead of bombing them?

For now the answer is clearly no.
