I think you may be misunderstanding one of the points of the article. "Race blind" admissions is not actually "race blind." Forty six percent of white students admitted to Harvard can trace that fact to being legacies, their parents donating money, or them playing rarer and often expensive sports. Removing affirmative action does not create race blind or merit based admissions, it instead works to preserve existing class or race based hierarchies in the country.
