I think that Ken Myers argued that all cultures cultivate. Similarly, Wendell Berry has argued that eating is an agriCULTURAL act. It has been challenging to claim pride in German Culture for a while. The same with Scotch-Irish etc.

I think the real problem is MASS homogenized culture. What we need is a rediscovery of local cultures and the ways in which indiginous, local, and immigrant cultures can fuse to enrich one another without claiming a position of dominance.
