I remember being surprised that Mr. Cleese had come out in favor of Brexit, especially since he had done important work as a fund raiser with Amnesty International in the 1980s. I can only imagine that as someone who grew up regretting the end of the British Empire he is now mourning the collapse of the American Empire.
