I agree that we can go overboard with rules and regulations. Nevertheless strict rules are often needed. When Covid-19 ravages a nursing home or school then we need to ask why it happened and create better guidelines. Darwinian natural selection cannot be used to defend laziness or incompetence.

Would you patronize a restaurant that refused to follow food safety guidelines? What about sending your child to summer camp with untrained life guards?

As one final thought, I found it very challenging to assess your article because you broke the rule of using specific concrete examples to support your case. You were asserting a broad philosophy of life more than clearly demonstrating the harm of specific restrictions.

Breaking and reviewing rules is sometimes necessary, but it should be done out of love, justice, mercy, truth or peacemaking, not simply for the sake of nonconformity.
